The Private Secretary’s Journal blurs the line between a fictional country, its king’s private secretary, and actual European historical and current events. The protagonist, Ian Köhler, is the private secretary to King Jonas of Dorstenland. Located in the North Sea, the fictitious island nation of Dorstenland surrounds itself with the United Kingdom to its left, Norway and Denmark to its right, and Germany to its south. The history of Dorstenland includes the unique cultural and linguistic influences of its German and British roots.

King Jonas is the current monarch to the House of Dietrich. Best friends since birth, the king and Ian Köhler continue the career paths their fathers and grandfathers paved before them. With both the Dietrich and Köhler families intertwining since the mid-1600s, they share a bond not made of blood but made of friendship, loyalty, and duty to their country.

The Private Secretary’s Journal will leave you questioning the actual boundary between fact and fiction.
