The Most Haunted Places ???
Have you ever noticed the number of articles, books, blogs, or YouTube videos with titles like the Top 10 Most Haunted Places? Or how about titles like the 15 Most Haunted Buildings in New York or England’s Most Haunted Castles? Doesn’t it make you wonder why people claim these locations are the most haunted?
Obviously, these titles are written this way for a reason. Titles that include eye-catching words like “Top 10” immediately grab our attention. It seems as if everything in our society must somehow strive to be number one. Each year there is always a number one baseball or football team or a number one movie or song. So naturally, many of us want to know who or what ranked at the top of a list. But when it comes to the paranormal, how does a purported haunted location rank towards the top?
I believe that titles claiming specific haunted locations ranked at the top of a list are misleading. The authors or video creators should instead include the word “POPULAR” in their titles.
Paranormal investigators or interested parties pay lots of money to attend investigations at popular locations that claim to be more haunted than other places. But are they? Who is to say that a dilapidated former asylum or prison is more haunted than a small home on Main Street in Illinois? Isn’t it possible that the house in Illinois could be infiltrated with more paranormal activity or entities than a location listed at the top of a popularity list?
Depending upon the article or video you are reading/viewing, you will notice that top haunted locations vary depending upon the opinion of the author or video creator. For example, every Halloween, online city newspapers or news stations come up with their own local top haunted lists.
In my opinion, there is no scientific proof of a “most haunted” place. However, there is no doubt there are plenty of the most POPULAR perceived haunted locations for one to research or investigate.
